ROLE OF TREASURER
 

 
  1. As a member of the council the treasurer is responsible for the common fund.
  2. The treasurer establishes and maintains a non-profit bank account to record all transactions.
  3. The treasurer brings the treasury box to ALL meetings to collect contributions.
  4. The treasurer maintains a supply of “common fund and attendance envelops” for use by members.  These can be purchased at http://franciscanresources.com/
  5. The treasurer reminds members of their financial commitment to the fraternity by citing the SFO Rule:   Chapter 3 – Article 25 “…. the brothers and sisters should offer a contribution according to their means.”  There are no fraternity dues, fees, or assessments, unless approved by the council for a specific purpose.
  6. The treasurer shall keep accurate records of all contributions and disbursements.  Expense reimbursements to members must be accompanied by a receipt.
  7. The treasurer expertly monitors the expenses of the fraternity.
  8. The treasurer shall give a regular and accurate report to the council at each monthly meeting and to the fraternity twice per year.
  9. The treasurer should apprise the members of the fraternity regularly and diligently as to what support has been accomplished to charity, apostolates, and other donations to needy causes as decided upon by the council.
  10. The treasurer prepares the fraternity budget for approval by the council.
  11. The treasurer advises the council when fair share payments are due and encourages a review of member status to accurately reflect our fair share.
  12. The treasurer advises the members when fair share payments are due, and encourages them to contribute extra funds before making the semi-annual payment to the regional treasurer (using the fair share form supplied by the regional treasurer)
  13. The treasury assists in the collection of non-common funds, for example, funds raised for the annual retreat.
